Fall Fires And What You Can Do
10/23/2019 (Permalink)
With the fall season comes change and new beginnings. This Autumn, make sure you are caught up with your knowledge on fire safety and the risks our different fall activities can pose. Change your habits and know what to do for each situation!
Campfires
Fall is one of the more popular seasons for this outdoor activity. While you’re enjoying your s’mores and the warmth of the fire, keep in mind some safety tips. Keep the bonfire in an open location with all flammable objects at a safe distance. Make sure the fire is controlled and that you don’t stand too close to it. Keep an eye on pets and children too!
Halloween Decorations
With Halloween right around the corner, we are seeing more and more houses decorated for the occasion. However, there are some fire risks from these spooky decorations. Try to use a flashlight or fake candle for your jack-o-lanterns. Also, make sure your decorative lights are working properly and have no broken pieces or loose wiring.
Fireplace
You are probably going to start using your fireplace more often, now that it’s getting colder outside! Make sure your chimney is up to date on cleanings. They should be inspected and cleaned every year! Never leave the fire unattended and use a fireplace screen to keep any fire debris from getting into your home. It’s important that you also avoid using lighter fluids to light the fire, since they can be extremely dangerous to use inside the house.
